Dr. Raminder Kang
Director of Settlement & Integration Services
Raminder Pal Singh Kang has nearly twenty years of experience working in the Social Service Sector in different capacities having started his career as a front-line worker. He was until recently currently working with Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS) as Senior Manager, Settlement and Integration Services.
Raminder is closely associated as a volunteer with the Inter Cultural Online health Network (iCON) for the last 15 years. This a community-driven health promotion initiative run by University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine that helps optimize chronic disease prevention and management for multicultural communities across BC. He has been a volunteer Master Trainer with the Chronic Disease Self Management Programs offered by the University of Victoria. These are free ‘lay lead’ health education programs that provide tools and practical skills people need to better manage the
challenges of living with a chronic health condition. He has delivered many workshops under this project in different parts of BC.
He also works as a host on a South Asian Radio, for a daily two-hour evening Talk Show which helps make him deeply conversant with community issues and concerns.
Raminder has a Bachelor Degree in Science and has Masters Degree in Arts. He is proficient in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu languages. He writes poetry in Urdu and Punjabi. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Canada Urdu Association, a more than three decade old purely literary organization working for the promotion of Urdu language in British Columbia.
