Dr. Charanpal Gill & Daljit Gill Excellence in Community Service Award is the highest honour presented at the Friends of PICS Gala. This award recognizes an individual whose lifelong commitment, leadership, and integrity have created transformational impact across communities. Recipients of this award exemplify excellence through sustained service, ethical leadership, and a legacy of advancing equity, opportunity, and community well-being. This honour is reserved for those whose influence extends beyond individual achievements and reflects enduring contributions that align deeply with the mission and values of PICS

The Paul Dosanjh Volunteer Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and service to the community. This award honours individuals who go beyond participation — those who lead by example, mobilize others, and consistently contribute their time and skills to strengthen programs, initiatives, and community outcomes. Recipients embody the spirit of service, reliability, and impact that defines meaningful volunteer leadership.

The Philanthropy Impact Award recognizes an individual, family, or organization whose philanthropic contributions have generated meaningful and measurable community impact. This award honours those who invest resources strategically to address social needs, support inclusive initiatives, and strengthen community capacity. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to responsible giving, long-term impact, and partnerships that create lasting change.

The Youth Leadership & Empowerment Award celebrates individuals or organizations that actively champion youth leadership, opportunity, and development. This award recognizes contributions that empower young people through mentorship, education, employment pathways, advocacy, or innovation. Recipients are committed to amplifying youth voices, removing barriers, and creating environments where young people can thrive and lead with confidence.

The Business & Community Partnership Award recognizes a business that demonstrates exceptional commitment to social responsibility and meaningful community engagement. This award honours organizations that go beyond traditional corporate involvement by investing time, resources, and expertise to support community initiatives. Recipients exemplify how strong partnerships between business and community can drive inclusive growth, opportunity, and shared success.

The Community Icon Award recognizes an individual whose long-standing presence, leadership, and credibility have made them a trusted and respected figure within the community over time. This award honours individuals whose influence is built through sustained service, visibility, and connection across communities.
