About Program

Whether you are a construction worker, building operator, designer, architect, homebuilder, engineer, tradesperson, policy maker, planner, realtor, or someone looking for a career transition, this fully funded training project is designed to develop knowledge and hands-on expertise to be a part of the Canada’s Green Building workforce. This 9-week training project aims to provide employment opportunities across six provinces and one territory, ensuring widespread access to upskilling and reskilling trainings in the Green Building and Retrofits sector for individuals from diverse backgrounds including equity-seeking groups.

Project Overview

You receive 9-weeks of training as follows:

In 5-weeks, earn a Green Building and Retrofits Micro-credential & Associate certificate from Assiniboine College through a self-paced online learning course. The learning modules equip you with strong foundational understanding in the following key domains:

  • Sustainable Building basics
  • Energy analysis & Verification
  • Efficient Energy retrofits systems
  • Envelop & Retrofits System
  • Safety & Compliance basics

After completing the micro-credential training, you will be supported with a 4-week practicum or an employment placement.

Eligibility

To join this training project, you must be:

  • 18 years or above
  • A Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident/person granted refugee status
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Self-identifying as: Newcomer/2SLGBTQI+/Indigenous/Black Canadians/Woman/Racialized person/Person with disabilities

  • Dependent care
  • Transportation
  • Need based support and more
