Skye Lin

Director of Employment Programs, Training and Development

Skye has over 20 years experience in the non-profit sector and is passionate about building communities through collective impact. While studying at UBC, Skye started to volunteer at Vancouver Downtown Eastside through UBC’s Learning Exchange storefront, providing computer skills training and English language learning support to local residents.  She was impressed by the community’s resilience despite the many challenges and hardships that residents faced everyday. This experience has helped her to embark a career in community service.

Skye currently holds the National Career Practitioner certification. After completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Human Geography and Asian Studies, Skye gained additional work experience in the Downtown Eastside and later joined PICS to support equity-deserving individuals to overcome barriers to employment and education.  Skye has worked in a variety of federally and provincially funded employment programs and upskilling projects, including Skills Training for Employment, Project-Based Labour Market Training, WorkBC, Community Workforce Recovery Grant, Employment Assistance Services, Targeted Wage Subsidies, and Skills for Success. Her experience spans from case management, job development and workshop facilitation to program management; working extensively with immigrant clients and vulnerable individuals to overcome barriers, build on their strengths and channel their energy into actionable steps that lead to meaningful and sustainable employment.

Skye is an exceptional leader with strong problem‑solving abilities and a gift for fostering collaboration. She encourages open dialogue and ensures that every voice is heard, creating a space where team members feel valued and inspired to share their ideas. With strong proposal writing skills and experience in program development, Skye has brought onboard a number of projects that empower the communities served, strengthen industry connections and contribute to a more inclusive and resilient workforce.  In her current role as Director of Employment Programs, Training and Development, Skye intends to build upon PICS’ roots in the agriculture industry and accomplishments to empower individuals, strengthen community partnership and contribute to building a more inclusive and resilient workforce.
