About CVIT Program
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), PICS hosts a free tax clinic where volunteers complete tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Suggested income levels
| Family Size | Total Family Income |
|---|---|
| 1 person | $42,000 |
| 2 people | $52,000, plus $2,500 for each additional person |
Family size includes an individual, or a couple, and their dependents.
1. Self-employment income or employment expenses
2. Business income and expenses
3. Rental income and expenses
4. Interest income over $1,000
5. Capital gains or losses
6. Bankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before, if that return has not yet been filed)
7. Deceased person
8. Foreign property (T1135)
9. Foreign income
What to Bring:
To streamline the tax preparation process, clients should bring the following documents:
1. Government-issued photo ID
2. Social Insurance Number (SIN)
3. All T-slips (T4, T5, etc.)
4. Any medical receipts
5. Notice of Assessment (2025)
