About Better at Home Program
Better at Home is a program designed to help seniors live in their own homes by providing non-medical support services delivered by local non-profit organizations, such as Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society. Better at Home is a province-wide program, managed by United Way of the Lower Mainland through funding received from the Government of British Columbia.
Surrey – Whalley Better at Home
In collaboration with S.U.C.C.E.S.S, Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society provides non-medical home support services for older adults, who live independently, in Surrey-Whalley area. While some services might be offered for free, most Better at Home services are provided on a fee-for-service basis. Services are offered on a sliding scale based on income level and vary depending on the unique needs of local seniors. Better at Home services are delivered through a pool of selected volunteers, who have undergone criminal record checks and have a clean driving record.
Surrey – Vancouver Better at Home
The Better at Home Program in South Vancouver aims to help seniors over the age of 65 with non medical home support services. Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) and the South Vancouver Neighbourhood House (SVNH) have partnered to provide the following services: Friendly Visiting, Light Housekeeping, Transportation, Grocery Shopping, Light Yard Work, Snow Shovelling, Minor Home Repairs and Friendly Phone Calls.
