Electrical Harmonized Foundations program (CWRG)

About CWRG Program

PICS Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society in partnership with KIPSS(Kekinow Indigenous Programs Service Society) and ACE college is currently recruiting for a fully funded Electrical Harmonized Foundations program(CWRG).

This program is designed for self-identifying First Nations, urban Indigenous, and Métis and Inuit students who are interested in pursuing a career in the electrical trade. The program will start on February 19, 2024, and run for 20 weeks.

The program will also include a 4-weeks of work experience, where the students will have the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world setting and Job support.

Electrical Harmonized Foundations program

Topics Covered

  • Solve practical problems in mathematics for electricians
  • Demonstrate safety and maintenance of hand and power tools
  • Use essential skills in troubleshooting and computers
  • Read and interpret drawings and manuals
  • Apply the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) regulations and standards
  • Install low-voltage distribution systems and control devices
  • Install and maintain raceways, cables, enclosures, branch circuitry and communication systems

Eligibility Criteria

Immigration Status + Current resident of BC + SIN

  • Canadian Citizen
  • Permanent Resident
  • Protected person entitled to work in Canada

Employment Status

  • Unemployed
  • Casual/ on-call Employed (less than 20 hours per week)
  • Part-Time Employed (less than 20 hours per week)

Education

  • Grade 12 Graduates or equivalent (GED, ABE)
  • Mature Student Status (age 19 & above)

Other

  • Self-identify as being First Nations, urban Indigenous, Métis or Inuit

*1 item from each category must be met to be eligible
