Fully Funded COVID Wellness Ambassador Certification

This is a 20- weeks training program for Persons with Special Abilities to help reduce barriers in their employment. The program is fully funded and aims to help persons with disabilities (PWD) to get into sustainable employment in tertiary sector. For this, experienced job developer and facilitators at PICS Society will provide Essential and Employability skills to the enrolled candidates. This will be followed by directing the participants to STOC trainings to get certifications like Food Safe etc.; and then the participants will move to Western Community College to get Customized Occupational Skills Training. This training will help them get COVID Wellness Ambassador Certificate. This certificate will help them explore job opportunities in tertiary sector, with focus on customer service, administration and building service worker occupation sectors
Practicum period of 4 weeks is also incorporated in the training program to enhance participant’s knowledge and get real-world experience.
Program Start Date: July 19, 2021
Learning Components:
- Essential and employability skills (3 weeks)
- Short Term Occupational Certificate Trainings, includes: (1 week)
- Occupational First Aid – Level 1
- SUPERHOST
- WHMIS
- Food Safe
- Occupational skills training with Western Community College (12 weeks)
includes 3 trainings:
- Grocery clerk training
- Building Service Worker training
- Digital Literacy training
- Practicum (4 weeks)
Financial and other Support:
- Financial incentive of $50/week @ $10/day
- Childcare expense support
- Compass card for travel support
