Dr. Tina Purewal joined the PICS Board in 2018. She is a practicing dentist and an instructor at the University of British Columbia in the Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine. She successfully integrated into the Canadian mainstream upon immigration (1993) by upgrading her B.D.S degree from India to the D.M.D degree from UBC (1999). Thus, she is aware of the challenges faced by immigrants desiring to embrace the Canadian way of life. Being a Master’s in Public Health (Gerontology), she understands the socio-economic conflict which multi-cultural societies face. She upholds the PICS mission of promoting harmony and intercultural understanding within the society close to her heart.
