Annual Akhand Path at the PICS Seniors Housing Was a Tremendous Success!

Every year PICS Senior House residents and staff organize Akhand Path (the continuous, front to back, reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib)at the PICS Senior Housing Facility. The Akhand Path lasted for 3 days and the staff and residents volunteered these 3 days to prepare the langar (free meal served to all the visitors, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. The free meal is always vegetarian). This year PICS organized the Akhand Path  from September 6th to September 8th 2019.  This event was attended by hundreds of people not just belonging to the seniors housing but many of the friends, relatives and families of our clients and staff.  Dignitaries also showed their support, including: Adrian Dix- MLA for Vancouver-Kingsway, Harry Bains-Minister of Labour, Katrina Chen-Minister of State for Child Care, Anne Kang-MLA for Burnaby-Deer Lake, Rachna Singh- MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers, Sukh Dhaliwal- MP – Surrey — Newton and the Mayor of Surrey Doug McCallum. Langar was served throughout the 3 days for 24 hours and the festivities were enjoyed by all those who participated. Volunteers and Staff volunteered hundreds of hours to make this event a successful one. PICS was able to raise $14,000 for Harmony House during these 3 days.
