Many of the projects at PICS receive ongoing funding for several years. However, some special projects/programs are run as pilot projects. Some of the one-time projects we have successfully run are below:

Adlerian Parent Study Group

The Adlerian Parent Study Group was a 6-week pilot parenting group for parents of children 17 years and under. Each week the group, facilitated by two counselors, met to discuss and learn about parenting styles, listening skills, self-esteem, misbehavior, discipline, and problem solving. The purpose of this group was to understand children’s behavior in relation to a positive approach based on mutual respect and equality; learn effective techniques to encourage positive behavior, to prevent misbehavior, and to deal with inappropriate behavior; learn how to promote cooperation and responsibility in families; learn how to encourage children; and was a platform to provide parents with an opportunity to share with other parents and to learn new ideas and examine their beliefs in an accepting and supportive environment.
