Our mission
...is to empower immigrant women by providing them with educational opportunities and resources regarding their health issues. We want to build an environment that supports equal access to our health care system, and ensures that women’s rights are being protected.
What is WISH?
WISH is primarily run by nursing students, all of which are sensitive to the needs of our visitors. It is a safe and confidential place where women can receive information concerning their health and individual rights. We offer one-on-one appointments, educational workshops, and a library filled with books, magazines and pamphlets dealing with women’s health issues. In addition, we offer connections to other organizations which provide legal, counselling and housing services.
We also have a list of physicians and pharmacists who value privacy and are willing to see new patients. WISH is a place where immigrant women can obtain reliable information. More importantly, WISH is a safe haven for women in need, and a place where they can find support that may be lacking in their community.
